What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses the tools of hypnosis to help you reach a dream or trance-like state of deep relaxation.

This trance-like state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music, or even one's own thoughts. 


For example, when you suddenly arrive at your destination and you can’t remember the drive, or it’s time to get off the train and you can’t remember going through some of the stations.  These are all examples of hypnotic trance that you experience in your everyday life.  


In this state, the conscious mind is in neutral and the sub-conscious mind is revealed.


 

What can you expect from hypnotherapy?

 

In a hypnotherapy session, I will suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to address your needs, the seeds of which can become firmly planted.


Hypnotherapy allows you to turn your attention completely inward to find the resources deep within yourself that will help you to improve or regain control of the areas of your life you'd like to change.

 

The great thing about hypnotherapy is that you don’t need to know much about it, or even believe in it, for hypnotherapy to work.  You do, however, need to be open to the hypnotherapy process.  


 

Will you lose control when hypnotised?

 

A common misconception is that when hypnotised you are under the power of the hypnotherapist and you do not have control.

You are always in total control of the process.  Hypnotherapy should never be confused with stage hypnosis that you may have seen. Stage hypnotism is essentially a theatrical performance and has as much in common with clinical hypnosis as many Hollywood movies have with real life.  

In clinical hypnotherapy, I will simply guide your mind to a place where you can make the changes that you need.  


The changes you make when in hypnosis are made by you.
